      Napoleon III (Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte) was the nephew of the more famous Napoleon Bonaparte. He was elected president of the Second French Republic in 1848 and took over as emperor in 1852. He was overthrown in 1870 as a result of the Franco-Prussian War, and he died in exile in Britain three years later.
